It looks like it is crashing in the “gtalkinvisible” plugin (which is
a third party plugin that I’m not familiar with).

Delete …\Pidgin\plugins\gtalkinvisible.dll and see if that fixes the crashing.

In this state, presence update from other contacts will not be sent to your account becouse they believe that your account is 'unavailable'! The only way with this method to keep buddy list up to date is to send to every contact a presence probe (just like a polling).
